On 420s I had luck using a truck tie down strap you can get them at home depot cheep. Just cut off the ends with a hot knife and put some grommets on.

Thanks! I actually ended up mading some out of 12,000lb truck tie down straps cause I was in a pinch to get the boats ready, they worked well for a while but didn't last (our boats get used and abused ALOT). Out of 4 sets that I made a little over a year ago only 1 set is still on a boat, I also noticed when sailing barefoot they were a bit harsh on your feet. In the end they ended up costing about 20 buck a pop for the straps, grommets, line, and shock cord.
I'm going to order 4 or 5 sets from weston marine next week. Even if it cost three times the price the normal JY ones seem to last much longer and I won't have to make them :D. |

Stuart,
I took my old starps to a sail maker who used them as templates and parts (D-ring) to build me a new set. Cost: $35, Apperance: Priceless!
